Hi David

Just you and me!

12:04 PM

Alan Fluhrer

hey you two

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Hi.

Alan Fluhrer

good article Maureen

How's it going David

did u get that resume I sent u

12:07 PM

Alan Fluhrer

ok since no one is asking, Maureen, I am looking for some folks with similar profiles, differentg levels

David Gillies

sorry on call with Lucas

Alan Fluhrer

here's the basics

I called him aftger he sent me his doc

David Gillies

good

any word on the role?

Alan Fluhrer

I told him the client has their 1st pool they want to go through then we should know if they want to see more, and proceed or ?

David Gillies

great

Alan Fluhrer

I hate when things get drawn out

I think Luicas is a walking placement

I am just seeing where ewlse we can present him.

I would think you may have some stuff for him?

12:12 PM

Recruiting Animal

yeah I think so

David Gillies

sorry guys....

i am backnow

Recruiting Animal

I'm back too

It's humid out today isn't it?

David Gillies

didn't get a chance to read that article before lucas called, ......

tell me about it

Recruiting Animal

Maureen, you tell him

12:15 PM

David Gillies

read it

nice article

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

I had a customer send me a resume today.

David Gillies

I do find LinkedIn as a great start

yeah and?

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

She said "Look at his LinkedIn profile. He's the one we want to replace."

David Gillies

interesting

Alan Fluhrer

so they sent u the resume of the person they want out?

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

I looked, thinking he was with her company and...

David Gillies

no, they sent her the LinkedIN profile

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

...couldn't find him.

Then I took away her company name and there he was - at the company he was with before.

What does that mean?

Yes, Alan. So I can wrap my head around what he's doing.

David Gillies

he didn't want anybody to know where he was....and he was worried about a non-compete cluase

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Possible.

Interesting possibility!

David Gillies

alot of recruiters wait untli they contact everybody they need to, THEN change their employer name

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

A reason NOT to update your online profile.

Alan Fluhrer

or. he is connected to a lot of fellow employees and he doesn't want them to know he's looking

Recruiting Animal

He didnt update his profile. You know that's common

David Gillies

that would not account for him not putting down his current employer's name

Alan Fluhrer

or, prior to updating, turn off LI notificaitons then turn them back on 24/48 hrs later

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

For whatever reason it doesn't bode well for up-to-date data on LinkedIn - does it?

Recruiting Animal

I knew you'd love that

Alan Fluhrer

tru

Recruiting Animal

But it really isnt important to a recruiter if the profile is not updated

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Just sayin'...

David Gillies

i think it is a non-compete issue

Recruiting Animal

Alls you need is a clue eh that this is the guy you might want to talk to

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

But how do you find him IF he's not with the last company listed?

Recruiting Animal

Now I admit that his current title wd be good to have but often it is something similar

David Gillies

doesn't matter about up to date employer info - you just need skill sets...then InMail

Recruiting Animal

411.com

I dont pay for an account so I dont have much or any inmail

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Minority found there these days.

Recruiting Animal

do you find that inmail gets answered?

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Many InMails go unanswered.

Alan Fluhrer

u havew inmail if the person is a member of a group u r in

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Many are TURNED OFF because of the avalanche of recruiter "InMails" in last couple years.

David Gillies

yes, with the right message. I focus on a niche and use thier lingo. They often answer...maybe 30-50% of the time

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

What does that bode?

David Gillies

agreed

12:23 PM

Alan Fluhrer

Maureen- abt that article- where did the 3% etc #'s come from and are there updated #'s somewhere

Recruiting Animal

I had coffee with @SocialHRGuy and @SocialTalent this morning and the latter (social tho he be) said when you ID the person you are better off calling on the phone rather than sending email or inmail

David Gillies

the problem is, Maureen, that as you stated in one of our articles...it takes 50 contacts to get one placement. starting from the front desk and phone sourcing a niche role and getting 50 contacts is very time consuming. THEN they are passive and often don't take the role. Phone sourcing comes at

heavy price then.

i call. leave vm telling them that InMail is coming

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Nobody updates that stuff. Nobody wants to know. Heads buried in the sand syndrome.

Alan Fluhrer

Agree w/ calling. but emailing and even FB messaging the next day can help. it let's them know you are serious, professional, and want to talk

David Gillies

yeah, but after you do all of that, you have to let them be for week or two.

Alan Fluhrer

depends

David Gillies

EVERYTHING "depends" :P

Alan Fluhrer

:-*

Recruiting Animal

New book --- Get That Job! Pissing People Off One Email at a Time <---- 4 us its one call at a time

Warning: These job-seeking techniques are intended for the sophisticated reader. Consequently this book will use strong language such as ballbag, bitch, and ass-clown.

Alan Fluhrer

if u r profewssional and actually have the potential candidates needs/wants, in mind, many actually appreciate it

David Gillies

my targets often only have 2-5 of the individuals I recruit in their company which means that to get 50 names, I need to learn how to social engineer into 20 companies. That takes ALOT of time.

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

It does take a lot of time.

Recruiting Animal

dave what did you mean

Alan Fluhrer

then u r not just another 45 second call "animal r u a PHP programmer? What do you make? ok, thanks bye"

David Gillies

agreed alan

Recruiting Animal

they only have 5.

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Phone sourcing is very time consuming.

Recruiting Animal

linkedin surfing is time consuming too

so is job board resume bank mining

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

It all takes time.

Recruiting Animal

Sourcing takes time

Alan Fluhrer

If I spend 5-15 minutes with a eprson often they are grateful

Recruiting Animal

Didnt anyone laff at that book info? I did

Alan Fluhrer

Also, offer the person something in return.

didn't read it

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

I suppose you have to pick your poison - which activity you can better afford.

David Gillies

Each company will be very different ie phone system, gate keeper behavior and flexibility, group strucgure, etc... Have to learn each company through trial and error...which takes ALOT of time. Do you see the recurring theme? :P

I find getting referrals from active conversations the most difficult

Alan Fluhrer

yup

and engineers, look @ u david, I found like talking about 11am. Their day is started, their headaches are now full bore, and if u hit them around then b4 lunch, they appreciate the talk

David Gillies

referrals should be 50% of your leads, and that is why I am focusing on a niche....credibility and visibility lead to trust ....then referrals

Alan Fluhrer

David, don't ask for referrals of the same skill set.

David Gillies

hmmm...why not?

Alan Fluhrer

don't ask an EE for another EE. Ask an ME for an EE.

David Gillies

LOL!

If my current prospect isn't looking, I always ask

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

That's good Alan...

David Gillies

yes, but I see where you are going

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

another sourcing avenue.

David Gillies

yes, maureen

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

Smart!

Alan Fluhrer

my experience. Even tho the 1st EE said no, sometimes, in the dark recesses of their mind, they still want to be wanted. When you ask 4 another EE, sometimes they think something is being taken away from them

David Gillies

i am doing something similar with geotechs and geoscience analysts

Alan Fluhrer

david, dude, was that resume I sent you in the right arena. I came across it in an old folder and thought of u

David Gillies

agreed, Alan...but ex of my conversation today was a guy whose wife will deliver in 5 months andno way takes a job now....

yes..that was a week or two ago.

Alan Fluhrer

so that's acase wheree he can't move and wont. that's a 3rds party reason.

David Gillies

it was good, but not a fit for my current search....can't rememver specifics now.

Alan Fluhrer

no biggie

David Gillies

what do you mean "thats a 3rds party reason"

by the way, the resume was much appreciated, Alan. I thought I had responded. My sincere apologies, if no.

Alan Fluhrer

David, check your email for some misc geotech info

David Gillies

oh, sweet....thanks

Alan Fluhrer

no biggie on the reply

just wanted to make sure u did get it

David Gillies

been focusing less on email and more on calling....all the guru's say you need to be on the phone AT LEAST 4 hrs per day

Alan Fluhrer

and I haven't tiicked you off . we are recruiter :-*

David Gillies

LOL! yes, alan

Alan Fluhrer

3rd party reason= a reason that the other person has no control over that affects them.In this case a baby.

David Gillies

gotta go, folks....always a pleasure and thanks for the forum, Maureen

Maureen Sharib  Phone Sourcer 513 646 7306

"in the dark recesses of their mind" I like that Alan! May I use it?

Alan Fluhrer

good hunting david.

David Gillies

I get it alan. thanks.

Alan Fluhrer

I gotta jump 2

all the best everyone

David Gillies

same to you alan!
