In Defence of Salesmen, Part 2

(Audio version here)

Last week, I criticized a young, corporate recruiter for slandering salesmen on his blog. Well, he got in touch with me because he didn't like hearing me say his philosophy is well suited to cult members and cream puffs but not strong women and real men.

And you know what that means? That even after listening this little punk still didn't get it. So I'm going to have to teach him another lesson, today.… Continue

Are you “successful”?

Interesting article about what makes (Realtors) successful – take and apply directly to our industry.

MagicMethod Classroom Discussion Topics August 5 & 7

Discussion August 5

I would like to discuss the amount of stress that recruiters/sourcers experience in their jobs and how to deal with frustrations and angry people. Could we bring this up?

At long last!

To rise off the ground wearing a jetpack is to feel the force of dreams. Very, very noisy dreams. On Tuesday, an inventor from New Zealand plans to unveil what he calls “the world’s first practical jetpack” at the EAA AirVenture, the gigantic annual air show here. The inventor, Glenn Martin, 48, who has spent 27 years developing the devices, said he hoped to begin selling them… Continue

by Shally Steckerl ERE post Jul 23, 2008

"Most people are terrible at cold calling..."

Flyn Penoyer, The Inside Sales Guru asks, over on LinkedIn:

Obviously looking up the company and finding names will always be useful and beneficial -- but beyond that; what can you really get from research that makes a true difference.
