What do you think sourcing brings to the recruiting process?

When I was headhunting, you could call telephone sourcing what I would do to identify those who I am interested in finding out more about - to see if they are a fit for a position I was working for.

I believe phone sourcing is key to the recruitment process, as we are identifying the 98% of passive candidates.

Do you think one type of sourcing produces better results than another? Which and why?

Phone - only way to verify and yields best results.

Quick and Dirty - if you had six hours to source 50 Process Engineers in the chem/energy/food/pharma industry what would you do?

LinkedIn, then get list of a dozen or so companies, us those names to telephone piggyback getting other names.

If you had a week?

Same.

I learned it from working as a headhunter.
